Post-16 Destinations

Pupils join The Pilgrim School at different times in their education. Pupils also leave at different times. For some pupils, a return to the mainstream school is possible, others seek a new beginning at a new school and for others, at the end of Year 11, their time at Pilgrim has to end and a move to a post-16 provision is necessary.

While this move can be a welcome change for some pupils – an opportunity to study something they are passionate about, a chance to make a fresh start or simply a move towards greater independence – for others it can be a daunting time.

Choosing the right next step can be exciting and overwhelming but support is available for pupils via their Pastoral Support & Welfare Specialists. PSWSs are on hand to help pupils discuss and research post-16 options, complete applications, arrange familiarisation visits and, where possible, support with interviews. Generally, pupils will choose between sixth form at a school, college or a more vocational based form of learning, such as an apprenticeship or employment based course with a learning provider, such as YPLP for their next step.

Although an exhaustive list of current post-16 destinations cannot be provided you are welcome to view our most recent Y11 Destinations report here
