Lincoln
Welcome
Opened in 2012, Lincoln was our first "permanent" base and a place to call our own. Situated approximately 3 miles outside of the city centre, our Lincoln base can be found just off Skellingthorpe Road on Carrington Drive, not far from Hartsholme Park. Although it is the smallest of the three bases it is still able to offer everything "Pilgrim" including a variety of teaching curriculums, from KS3 to Year 11, including GCSEs, BTECs Functional Skills, Entry Level Certificates and Vocational Studies.
What to expect
Immediately inside the building is a reception area linked to the main office. Pupils, staff and visitors are greeted here. Beyond the double doors, there is a visual calendar to make students aware of any events, talks, or holidays within that month and a whiteboard which displays any important notices for the day ahead. There is also a board that shows which members of staff are in base so students know who is in each day.
There's no getting lost in this base as all the rooms are joined by one corridor. The main building comprises of 3 main rooms which support the teaching and other activities that compliment our pupils' learning and wellbeing. In addition to these, the main office can be found on the right-hand side of the entry and our pastoral team (PSWSs) work in the room next to this. There is also a medical room, Headteacher's Office, a small kitchen, a student area with books and sofas and some toilets.
The end of the corridor leads to the outside space which comprises of a garden area with a vegetable patch and some seating, a small greenhouse and an outbuilding, called "the cube". Although the cube is detached from the main building it is a great, tranquil space for activities, meetings and exams.
Along the corridor in the main building are displays that are relevant to pupils' learning and wellbeing and a Doodle Board that anyone is welcome to add to. The corridor also includes bright and engaging displays relating to fundraising, trips and events, and displays surrounding online safety, mental health and more. Around the main building there are spaces for our pupils to socialise and receive support when needed.
On a typical day, we have around 3-4 teaching staff, 2 support staff, 2-3 Pastoral Support and Welfare Specialists (PSWS) and 2-3 admin staff. Otto, the school dog, joins us on a frequent basis for our school day. Some of our staff are full-time and are here most days, while others are part-time so are not here as often.
On Tuesdays, we have Lincoln Lunches, where students can help staff to prepare lunch for other staff and students. When the weather allows, it is a barbecue, and we can provide vegetarian or gluten-free options as well.
We offer a Dungeons and Dragons lunch club on Tuesdays but current and future activities are dependent on pupil voice. Pupils will take turns to look after and provide enrichment for our pet tortoise who is known as 'Gibb'.
